What do all these queries mean?

Just scroll down below, to the section "How to use the DCDB", and you can read what everything is and does.

I don't have a display case. How can I get one?

Go to Seaside Town, then Right Side of the Tracks, and there you'll find the Cannon Museum. In the museum is the Collection of Collections, and you can buy a case there. You can go there or look at your character sheet to edit your case contents.

How often is the database updated?

All display cases are refreshed on a nightly basis, right after rollover.

Can you show the rank next to each item in a player's display case?

Computing the rank dynamically would require running a rank query against every item in a player's display case. The item query takes about 3 seconds on average, which means someone with a large display case could be waiting for several minutes for a response. Multiply that by the number of users hitting the database concurrently, and you've got a lot of lag caused by such behavior.

Updating the rank data periodically (say, once an hour or once a day) for each item might be a way to approximate pure dynamic behavior. We'll add that when we figure out a way to do that efficiently.

I'm not in the database. Can you please add me?

Well, you should be there, but if you've just purchased a display case, give it time. You'll be there on the next refresh.

Can you also include the contents of inventory, closet, and Hagnk's?

No. Only folks with direct access to the game database (Jick, Riff, CDMoyer) can see those.

Can you search for trophies? Or familiars?

In theory, yes, but the code and database doesn't support it today. I'll keep this on the "future ideas" list for now.

Why do you have quest items in the list when you can't put them in your display case?

Because you used to be able to do that, and many folks still have a ton of bitchin' meatcars and continuum transfunctioners lurking about in their cases. If those folks ever remove those items, they'll never be able to put them back in, so having them there now is a reward unto itself.

Why does an item in my display case not appear in your database?

Probably because the item list hasn't been updated yet. As some new items are discovered in the game, they have to be manually updated in the database to be publicly visible. If it's taking too long, send Fryguy9 or Hojo Hominygrits a reminder in kmail or chat pm.

Why doesn't the Visual KoL Wiki show the same thing as the DCDB?

Because they're different databases. The Wiki queries the DCDB from time to time, but sometimes they get out of sync. Questions about the Wiki should be sent to Jinya via kmail.

Can you show the consumption records as well?

No, because only you and you alone (and the game admins) can see your consumption records. There's no way to publicly query it.

The DCDB is out of sync with reality. Please fix it.

Well, that may have been the case (no pun intended) before, but now it should be updated regularly. If you see anything out of the ordinary, kmail ePeterso2 or Fryguy9, and they'll get on it.

How to use the DCDB
Feature   Description
Name or ID Query  
   Player Name or ID   Enter a player name or player ID number to search for that player. Name searches are partial name searches and will return all players that have your search text in their name. Use quotes around your search text to search for an exact match. ID searches are always exact searches, and only that specific player will be found.
   Item Name or ID   Same as above, but with items instead of players.
   Clan Name or ID   Same as above the one above, but with clans instead of players.
Set Query   Choose a query type and an item set from the Sets of Items and see who ranks the highest.
   % Complete   See which players have the highest percentage complete set of items from the selected set.
   Complete Sets   See which players have the most number of complete sets of the selected set.
   Most Items   See which players have collected the most of those items from the selected set.
   Show Set   Show what items make up the selected set.
Special Query   Choose a query and see who ranks the highest for that search.
   Average Autosell (Clan)   See which clans have the highest average autosell value, based upon the average autosell value of items in the display cases of all clan members.
   Average Total Items (Clan)   See which clans have collected the highest average total number of items, based upon the average number of items in the display cases of all clan members.
   Highest Autosell (Clan)   See which clans have the highest autosell value, based upon the combined autosell value of all items in the display cases of all clan members.
   Highest Autosell (Player)   See which players have the highest autosell value, based upon the combined autosell value of all items in a player's display case.
   Most Collected Item   See which items appear in the most number of unique display cases.
   Most Numerous Item   See which items appear the most number of times across all display cases.
   Most Total Items (Clan)   See which clans have collected the most total number of items, based upon the number of items in the display cases of all clan members.
   Most Total Items (Player)   See which players have collected the most total number of items.
   Most Unique Items (Player)   See which players have collected the most number of unique items.
   Most Unique Items (Clan)   See which clans have collected the most number of unique items.
